The Sift Wiki (version 1.6.3)

Exnergy's Sift Version adds the Sift, a new dimension for Minecraft Java 26.3 inspired by Minecraft Dungeons II. This wiki explains how to reach the Sift and how the dimension works. It covers every biome, creature, boss, structure, item and system in the mod, and the 10 languages it is translated into.

1. Getting Started

Building the portal

Step What to do
1. Build Build a portal frame out of Reinforced Deepslate, the same way you would build a Nether portal frame
2. Light Use an Echo Shard on the frame
3. Fight A Warden awakens to guard the portal. Defeat it and the portal fills and opens
Topic Details
Creative In Creative mode the portal opens instantly.
Warden escapes If the Warden burrows back into the ground without being defeated, your Echo Shard is returned next to the frame.
Peaceful The game removes a Warden the moment it appears, so the Echo Shard opens the portal directly instead.
Echo Flute The Echo Flute helps a lot: playing it near the Warden slows and weakens it for 12 seconds and clears its anger.
Broken frame When the Warden is defeated the frame is checked again. If you broke it in the meantime, no portal blocks float in the air and your Echo Shard is dropped next to the spot.

Arriving

Topic Details
Arrival You arrive at the nearest Singer's Portal in Singer's Meadow. Its portal takes you back home.
Waystone If you set a Waystone, you arrive there instead. If no Singer's Portal is nearby, you arrive above the spot you left from, next to a small return portal.
Arrival point The spot where you arrive is remembered as your arrival point.
Safe landing Teleports and /locate trips always set you down on the surface, never inside a cave. Only players who are actually buried are moved up.

What to bring

Good armor, food, a bow or crossbow, a few Echo Shards, an Echo Flute and some paper for maps.

2. Leaving the Sift and Finding Your Way

Tool What it does
Rift Use an Echo Shard on a Soul Block inside the Sift to tear open a Rift back to the Overworld. It closes after 2 minutes
Singer's Portal A working Sift portal inside the Singer's Portal structure in Singer's Meadow. Step in to go home
Rift Compass Always points back to your arrival point
Waystone Shard Use it on a spot to make it your landing point for every portal trip into the Sift
Veil Shard Dropped by the Veilkeeper. Teleports you to your arrival point inside the Sift
Explorer Maps Sold by Sift Cartographers. They lead to Sifter ruins, villages, boss arenas and Splinterwing Nests, or Meridian monoliths
Maps Normal maps work in the Sift. Craft them from paper and a compass, and copy, zoom or lock them at a Sift Cartography Table
Rift Key Opens a Rift anywhere (Creative only)
/sift leave Always takes you out of the Sift. If your saved return point is missing, or points back into the Sift, you arrive on the surface of the Overworld instead
The Sifter's Almanac Shows the coordinates of your landing spot and how far away it is

Paper can be crafted in the Sift from Soulreed or Duskwheat, so you can make maps and books without leaving.

3. Sift Tides

A day in the Sift lasts 20 minutes and flows through three tides.

Tide Effect
Flow Calm. Fewer hunters roam and souls regenerate slowly
Thrive You gain Regeneration and Haste, souls regenerate faster and the Soul Mender costs half. A dawn chorus heals Sift wildlife when Thrive begins
Endure Nearby monsters gain Strength and Resistance
Topic Details
Sky The sky follows the tides: Flow keeps the bright teal sky, Thrive turns the sky, fog and light a warm amber and Endure turns them a deep violet.
HUD The HUD shows the current tide. When the tides are switched off it shows "Tides off".
Tide items The Tide Clock shows the tide anywhere, and the Tidebound Charm gives a different blessing for each tide.
Glimmerbees Glimmerbees stay in their hives whenever the tide is not Flow, during rain and at night.

Switching the tides off

Topic Details
Commands /sifttide turn off and /sifttide turn on (operators) switch the tides for the whole Sift. The choice is saved with the world. While the tides are off, the Sift stays in a calm Flow.
Peaceful Tides never run in Peaceful: no tide effects, no tide messages and no way to switch them on. The commands are refused there.

4. Souls

Topic Details
Collecting Defeat creatures inside the Sift to collect souls. Stronger creatures give more.
Limit You can carry up to 100 souls, and they stay with you when you die.
Soul Mender spend 20 souls to heal 3 hearts (only 10 souls during Thrive).
Soul Flask and Gummy Soul Flask: stores up to 500 souls. Soul Gummy: restores 12 souls.
Ichor Ichor drains souls first: touching Ichor takes 2 souls per hit. It only burns you once you have no souls left (Fire Resistance and Gloop Jelly protect you).
Soul Vents stand on one to be lifted high into the sky, then glide back down.
Soul Falls now and then a soul falls from the Veil and leaves a Soul Block on the ground.

5. Soul Storms

Topic Details
Timing A Soul Storm sweeps across the Sift every 3 in-game days and lasts 20 real-time minutes.
Unlock Storms unlock at level 50. In Creative they are always active.
Warnings Two warnings come 5 minutes and 3 minutes before it hits, and the HUD shows a live timer.
Weather Dark clouds roll in, soul rain falls and lightning strikes. It gets fiercer in the final minute.
Waves Waves of monsters and mini-bosses are drawn to you. Splinterwings and Hexeyes can join them. Bosses no longer come with storms. The boss stages send two stronger waves instead.
Scaling Enemy health and bonus XP scale with your level. Bonus XP grows up to ×2.5 as the storm nears its end.
Tide The tide shapes the storm: easier on Flow, deadlier on Endure.
Music Its own soundtrack, Cyan Tempest, plays only during the storm.

Peaceful and difficulty

Topic Details
Peaceful hostile creatures, bosses and the Veilkeeper do not exist. They are removed when they load, and their spawn eggs do nothing (in the Creative menu they show a red "Disabled in Peaceful" line, only while the world is on Peaceful). Neutral creatures do not attack players and creatures of the Sift cannot hurt you. Soul Storms never happen, the storm clock is frozen and /siftstorm start is refused. The HUD shows "Tides and Soul Storms are off in Peaceful" in a single segment.
Difficulty Easy, Normal and Hard shape the Sift. Easy has fewer hostile creatures, smaller storm waves and shorter poison, slowness, weakness, burning and freezing. Hard has more of each and longer effects.
Delay /siftstorm delay resets the storm clock to 60 minutes and ends a storm that is running.

Soul Storm Trophy: survive without dying and defeat at least 75% of the monsters sent after you.

Storm Lure: storm monsters drop Storm Shards. Four Storm Shards around a Soul Block craft a Storm Lure, which calls a storm.

Memory Each bee remembers its own hive, also after the world is reloaded. It forages only near the hive, comes back after a couple of minutes or when it strays too far, and looks for a hive if it has none
Every dimension Hives and Glimmer Nests work in every dimension, not only the Sift. A Sift Hive or Glimmer Nest you place comes with 3 bees already inside, unless the area already has many Glimmerbees
Honey A full hive can raise a new bee. Harvest Glimmer Honey with a Soulflame Brazier or campfire below the hive, or the bees attack
Breaking Breaking a hive releases its bees. With Silk Touch, the bees and honey stay inside
On trees Glimmer Nests grow on a good share of White Willows and on canyon trees, in newly generated chunks

23. FAQ

Question Answer
How do I get into the Sift? Build a Reinforced Deepslate frame, use an Echo Shard on it and defeat the Warden that wakes up.
How do I get home? Use an Echo Shard on a Soul Block to open a Rift, or step into the portal at a Singer's Portal.
How do I reach high places in the Huskland? Step on Bounce Jelly or jump on a Jellyhop. Bounce Jelly at the bottom of pits and in the Singer's Meadow chasm is your way out.
How do I use the Soul Lifts? Jump on one to go up and sneak on one to go down.
Where are the bosses? Only in their arenas. Use /locate structure, explorer maps or /sift arena.
Why is there no Soul Storm? Storms unlock at level 50 and never happen in Peaceful. Check /siftstorm query or the Almanac.
Why are there no tides? Tides do not run in Peaceful, and they can be switched off with /sifttide turn off.
Why does my Soul Jar do nothing? It only holds creatures you have adopted. Adopt the creature with its treat first.
How do I get bees? Place a Sift Hive or Glimmer Nest anywhere, in any dimension: it comes with 3 bees. Glimmer Nests also grow on White Willows and canyon trees in the Sift.
Why don't I see the new terrain or structures? Biomes, terrain and structures only change in chunks that have not been generated yet. Explore new areas or start a new world. Updating from 1.4.1 or 1.5.0 keeps existing worlds working, but the new plants, wall plants, Willow trees, green urns, the Singer's Meadow chasm, the rebuilt Singer's Portal, the new islands, Carapace domes, Sift Chests on islands, village orientation, Bounce Jelly pits, nests on trees and the tower fix only appear in newly generated chunks.
